Dear Sir,
It's
the last trading day of what has been truly an eventful week for
the market and so much has happened in the last week. The
vote of confidence went through, the existing Govt to continue its
operation. This is good news for the US-India civilian
nuclear agreement that is currently under consideration by the International
Atomic Energy Agency and Nuclear Suppliers Group.
Nuclear energy is a clean and renewable energy source. For over
30 years, over 50 per cent of electricity generated in our country
has come from nuclear power. India's power demand is rising and
will continue to grow. India is gradually progressing towards a
service-led economy from an agrarian economy, says the study. Supply
and production have increased but demand has doubled. According
to the study, the demand can only be met through a five
to 10-fold rise in power production.
This means investments in the power sector will increase
over $600 billion (Rs 24 lakh crore) in the next 10 years.
In
this context N-Deal will boost the Power supply for India with a
cheaper source. If the nuclear deal
goes ahead, companies like L&T, BHEL, NTPC, Areva T&D, Alstom
Projects, Rolta, HCC, ABB, Crompton Greaves, Siemens stand to gain.
L&T has done engineering, procurement and construction projects
for nuke power plants. It is currently working on the 2,000 MW Kudankulam
nuclear project. The company will get into mainstream nuclear projects
if the deal goes through. It entered into a recent tie-up with Mitsubishi
for super critical boilers. The Mitsubishi technology would be used
for Nuclear Power Corp. L&T may leverage its relationship with
Mitsubishi for its other nuclear business.
BHEL
supplies up to 500 MW of equipment to Nuclear Power Corp. It is
looking for a tie up manufacturing equipment of up to 700 MW &
1500 MW. The company has been in talks with Alstom, GE Energy, Russia's
LMZ and Siemens. It has an existing tie-up with Siemens for nuclear
technology.
The
company is in talks with Nuclear Power Corporation of India. It
is looking at setting up 2000 MW nuclear plant. He is In talks with
GE Energy for technology and fuel. NTPC is looking at the project
to be operational by 2012-2013.
Areva
T&D is looking at a plant for uranium mining and recycling.
The plant would be set up after nod from Nuclear Power Corp.
The company already makes nuclear reactors and rotors.
Its parent company is a world leader in conventional nuclear projects.
It makes turbines for nuclear power stations. It supplies steam
turbines to over 30% of nuke power stations globally.
The
Rolta-Stone and Webster joint venture competent provides reactor-building
technology. It will leverage on its partner's core competency. Stone
& Webster's parent has 20% in Westinghouse Electric, a nuclear
reactor maker.
Crompton Greaves works with Nuclear Power Corporation of India.
It has completed a switchyard for nuclear project.
HCC has constructed four of seven nuclear power projects
in India. It is an EPC contractor for nuclear projects.
Company
plans to invest additional Rs 12,000 crore in nuclear power capacity.
It plans to install 2000 MW of nuclear power capacity.
Company
has tied up with some major nuclear equipment suppliers like Areva.
It already has a relationship with Toshiba; it will leverage on
it.
ABB makes components for power projects. Its parent company's exposure
includes new nuclear power plants, systems and components. The parent
company's exposure includes fuel services, waste management and
decommissioning.

Company
makes critical equipment for India's nuclear power facilities.
When the demand rises to 335 GW, India's power sector
will have to generate 415-440 GW for plant availability adjustments
and 5% spinning reserves. Adding 300 GW by 2017 will
mean increasing the annual capacity by 30 GW against the current
growth capacity of 9 GW.
Market is getting steadier and stronger day by day. Take benefit
of these stocks that are trading lower because of falling market.
If this N-Deal goes through above stocks will benefit. Hence
we suggest you to start investing in these Power sector companies.
